Federal Cabinet Approves Proposed Amendment in NAB Laws

ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet on Friday has approved the proposal of National Accountability Bureau Amendment Ordinance 2019.

The summary will be presented in the Federal Cabinet meeting for approval after which, it will be forwarded to President Arif Alvi for further process.

The Ministry of Law and Justice has sent the bill to Prime Minister Imran Khan for approval.

The proposal stated that the anti-graft watchdog will be able to take action against the corruption of over 500 million rupees. No action will be launched against government employees in case of departmental deficiencies, it read.

“If NAB failed to complete investigation against state employee he will have the right to get bail. NAB can take action against the corruption over Rs 500 million rupees,” it said adding that the NAB powers have been curtailed to take action in tax, stock exchange and IPOs.
