ISLAMABAD: Following the long deadlock between government and opposition over the appointment of chief election commissioner and two other members, the federal government has drafted a new strategy to solve the issue on a permanent basis.
According to sources, PTI government has decided to change the rules of the parliamentary committee formed for the appointment of the CEC and members.
Sources revealed that in the rules of the parliamentary committee the word simple majority will be replaced by a two-third majority.
Government has the stance that the present rules of the parliamentary committee are unconstitutional as there is no need of two-third majority even the appointment of judges and other committees.
