
ISLAMABAD: Prominent and world acclaimed medical researcher Hakim Muhammad Saeed’s 99th birth anniversary is being observed today.
Hakim Saeed was born on January 9, 1920. He was a renowned scholar, a philanthropist and the former governor of Sindh.
He established Hamdard Foundation in 1948. Within few years, the herbal medical products of Hamdard became household names.
Hakim Mohammed Saeed authored and compiled several books which include books on religion, Tibb (natural medicine), health and sciences, literature, social and scientific topics and travelogues.
Hakeem Saeed founded Hamdard University in 1991. He made enormous contributions in the field of health, science, education and culture.
Another great establishment was “MADINAT-E-HIKMA”.
It comprises Hamdard University with such institutes as Hamdard College of Medicine and Dentistry, Hamdard Al-Majeed College of Eastern Medicine, Hafiz Mohammad Ilyas Institute of Herbal Sciences, Hamdard Institute of Education & Social Sciences, Hamdard Institute of Management Sciences, Hamdard Institute of Information Technology, Hamdard School of Law, Faculty of Engineering Science & Technology, Hamdard Public School and Hamdard Village School.
Bait-al-Hikmah is also a constituent part of Madinat-al-Hikmah.
This is one of the biggest and well-stocked libraries of Pakistan.
Hakeem Muhammad Saeed Shaheed was a patriotic Pakistani. In his age of 78 years, he made a great contribution in almost every field.
He was a man of principles and extraordinary courage while he spent whole of his life in the service of his nation. Hakeem Muhammad Saeed Shaheed was a multi artistic personality.
He loved children and was portrayed as the ‘friend of children’.He was dearly concerned over the upbringing of children. He started the “Nonehal” series for children that comprised of informative stories, and articles that interests children.
Hakeem Saeed was awarded Nishan-e-Imtiaz in 2002, in recognition of his services.
He remained Governor of Sindh province from 1993 to 1996.
Hakim Mohammed Saeed Shaheed left behind a daughter, Sadia Rashid and three granddaughters. This great Scholar was assassinated by a group of unknown assailants while he was on his way to Hamdard Laboratories in Karachi.
