ISLAMABAD: Sikandar Sultan Raja on Friday appointed as new Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) after approval of his name from parliamentary committee.
According to the notification issued by Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs,retired bureaucrat, Sikandar Sultan Raja has been appointed as the new CEC while Nisar Durrani from Sindh and Shah Muhammad Jatoi from Balochistan have also been recruited as members of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
Sikandar Raja will take oath of his office from Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed.
Earlier, parliamentary committee headed by Federal Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari had named Sikandar Sultan Raja as new CEC.
