1st Test 2nd day:  Babar, Masood Hundreds Put Pakistan on Top

RAWALPINDI: In reply to 233 of Bangladesh first innings Pakistani top order, especially Shan Masood and Babar Azam centuries helped the lead extended to 109 while seven wickets in hands in the first innings of the first Test match at Rawalpindi.

Pakistan were at 342 for three at the stumps.

Babar Azam on 143 of 192 balls with 19 fours and a six while Asad Shafiq not out at 60 with eight fours as both accumulated unbroken 137 runs for the fourth wicket.

Earlier, Bangladesh started bowling aggressively and Aby Jayed grabbed Abid Ali at zero. Pakistan came back strongly after the losing wicket of captain Azhar Ali, 34, and Asad Shafiq and Babar Azam scored freely all around the wicket.

The left-hander fell for 100 in the penultimate over before tea — his third Test hundred and second successive — as Pakistan reached 206-3 after two commanding sessions of batting.

Bangladesh were all out at 233 on the first day of the match.
