
ISLAMABAD: Leaders from both the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and opposition party, PPP, had voiced their opposition to the bill, which seeks a two-fold increase in the salaries and other perks of parliamentarians.
Leader of house in Senate Shibli Faraz declared that the bill regarding increment of the parliamentarians untimely.
He said that the salaries of the parliamentarians are less but it is not appropriate time for an increase in the salaries.
PTI leader said that the country is face with an economic crisis and the government is concentrating to provide relief to masses from inflation.
He further apprised that Prime Minister Imran Khan has adopted austerity drive adding that the increase in the parliamentarian salaries will create a gulf between masses and representatives.
On the other hand deputy chairman senate, which belongs to Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), has also disassociated himself from the bill to raise salaries of the member of the parliaments.
Saleem Mandwiwala talking about the issue said that he has been consulted over the issue but he did’nt support the bill.
He said that “I will be happy if the government provide benefit to masses instead of increasing my salary. ”
Meanwhile, PPP Senator Sherry Rehman categorically stated that her party would not support the bill.

Another PTI leader Faisal Javed Khan said “definitely a NO to this bill on increase of salaries of Senators. This is not the right time with country going through a tough period. ”
