ISLAMABAD: Like rest of the world, World Civil Defense Day is being observed in the country on Sunday (March 1st) with the renewal of the pledge to foil every threat of the enemy to the frontiers of the motherland shoulder to shoulder the valiant armed forces of Pakistan.
The theme of this year’s World Civil Protection Day was “Protection of children, our responsibility”. Today, on this special occasion, we know what is celebrated as World Civil Defense Day.
The day was incorporated by the International Civil Protection Organization (ICDO) in 1990. This day marks the entry into force of the ICDO Constitution as an inter-governmental organization in 1972 and has two main objectives.
World Civil Defence Day is being observed to raise awareness about the importance of civil defence organizations in the event of accidents or disasters, among the people.
This day is being observed across the world over in line with the charter of the United Nations aimed at to raising awareness among the masses to deal with any eventuality in case of any emergent situation, organizers said.
Elaborated programs have been chalked out to hold special ceremonies around the country including capital Islamabad.
The major ceremonies to observe the day will be followed by a major rally to mark the day to be held under the auspices of the civil defense department.
People from all walks of life including the civil defense volunteers will march through the main city streets in the rally, to be the hall mark of the day
