MQM-P Rejects Special Court Verdict Against Musharraf

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui on Sunday criticized the special court’s verdict against former military ruler General Retired Pervez Musharraf, saying that inappropriate language was used in the ruling which could not be justified.

Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, while addressing MQM-P led public rally at Liaqutabad fly-over to support Pervez Musharraf, said the former army chief had served Pakistan and Karachiites will prove it they are standing with the true patriots of the country.

People attended the gathering through rallies which were brought out from various areas of the city.

Addressing the gathering, MQM-P convener said that how it is possible that 1999 action was justified while 2007 was unjustified while the institution took the decision of 1999 it was not of a single person.

The convener on behalf of MQM-P rejected the special court decision against Musharraf.

He said that the country could only be got united through justice but not via an exhibition of power. He termed the verdict as the contempt of the nation and expressed fear for courts to lose the confidence of the nation after the delivery of a controversial judgement.

The MQM-P senior deputy-convener Amir Khan said that the special court verdict of the honourable judges seems biased while only the judiciary reprieve the verdict adding that the MQM-P respect the transparent judiciary and the judiciary will solve the issue.

Mayor Karachi, Waseem Akhtar and Faisal Sabswari also addressed the rally.
