ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has strongly condemned the media report about the increase in the salary of the Prime Minister.
Talking to media outside the Parliament House in Islamabad on Thursday, she said in contrast to the previous governments, the Prime Minister started austerity drive from the Prime Minister House and cut its budget to save the money of the people.
The Special Assistant urged the media to play its positive role for better policymaking instead of making undue criticism against the Prime Minister.
Talking about Prime Minister’s Youth Loan Scheme, she said the project helps to promote local manufacturing and exports.
Earlier, the spokesperson for Prime Minister’s Office has strongly denied the media report about the increase in salary of the Prime Minister.
In a statement, the spokesperson said publication of such baseless and concocted report is highly regretted when the Prime Minister is running a campaign to reduce government’s expenditures in every possible manner and he also started it from his own personality.
