System Being Evolved to Fix Power Tariff: Standing Committee

ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on power told that a system is being designed to fix an increase of tariff prices rather increase several times in a year.

The senate standing committee meeting was held with the chair of Fida Muhammad. Secretary power Irfan Ali aiming to facilitate power consumers in payment of bills K-Electric will increase tariff in various phases.

“NEPRA increases the tariff seventeen times in a year and government has grave concern over the situation, therefore, a new system being evolved to fix the tariff for the entire year.

Secretary apprised meeting that IMF has also explained over the plan as the circular debts have jumped from 812 billion to 960 billion rupees while the increase in circular debt is being witnessed due to not issuance of subsidy of Rs 50 billion by the government.
