All Karachi Projects Are Debris of Sand: CJ

Karachi: Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed on Friday said that the Kemari port bridge is in a severely dilapidated position if it falls then Karachi will be disconnected from the entire world adding that all the project in the Karachi are nothing but debris of sand.

The Chief Justice presided over a three-member bench for hearing the case pertaining to encroachments at the Supreme Court Karachi Registry.

The CJ addressed attorney general Khalid Javed and advocate General Sindh, Salman Talib Uddin and they apprised him with the updates of the ongoing anti-encroachment drives against illegal settlements.

The CJP inquired from Advocate General Sindh Salman Talibuddin about the progress in the Circular Railway project.

The advocate general told the court that mass transit plan has been formed and the Green Line Bus and the Orange Line projects will soon be completed.

A map of the mass-transit plan was presented to the CJP Gulzar Ahmed upon which the judge remarked that the plan was unreadable and lacked planning, he said that the plan was made in haste.

Salman Talibuddin said action has been taken against all corrupt officers. Justice Sajjad Ali Shah remarked that all the steps that have been taken are fake.

Alluding to the building collapse incident, Ahmed said that a building has collapsed will many are dead, will anyone one bother to take note of the situation?

At the occassion, referring to attorney general of Pakistan, the CJ asked what was the federal government doing on the issue.In a manner constructions have been made a major risk has been created, he said.

He said that Shaheed-e-Millat Road, Kashmir Road and Nazimabad have been given bad shape while destroying the University road.

He stressed that Karachi needs compact projects, tall buildings are made here on small plots and all obsolete buses of the country are being used.

Focusing his attention back to the building collapse case, the CJP questioned that who shall be held responsible for the death of 16 people?
