PESHAWAR: The former head of the peace committee Turkistan Bateni has been shot dead during cross-firing of two groups of a jirga being held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
According to police, the incident occurred in Tank when during a jirga two groups enraged and attacked each other, in resultant ex-head of the committee and his nephew Azirur Rehman died on the spot.
Police said that three other people have also got injured and shifted to civil hospital Jandola.
It is pertinent to mention that on September 20, 2009, Turkistan Bateni along with 500 accomplices surrendered before the Pakistan army and later he took part in the action against the banned outfit Pakistan Tehreek-e-Taliban.
